Statement:
Marlis Newman is a contemporary Impressionist
who works in many media; oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor
and combines her media in her mixed-media paintings. Each
painting is a personal statement and represents her response
to the subject. It is an attempt to capture the essence of
the subject, whether it is a single figure, a group, a floral
or a still life. The effect of light and color surrounding
the subject and the atmosphere within the painting are primary
concern in conveying the feeling of the painting.
